I’m choosing NAY when it comes to open relationships.
For me personally, I value emotional exclusivity too deeply. When I commit to someone, I don’t just share time — I share vulnerability, intimacy, and long-term vision. I know myself well enough to admit that I would struggle with jealousy and overthinking, even if there were rules in place. I wouldn’t feel secure knowing my partner is building romantic or physical connections with someone else, no matter how “open” the communication is.
I respect that open relationships can work for couples who have extremely strong trust, emotional maturity, and clear boundaries. But for me, love feels safest and most meaningful when it’s mutually exclusive. I thrive in stability, reassurance, and the comfort of knowing we are choosing each other fully — not partially.
So while I don’t judge anyone who chooses differently, I know my heart wouldn’t handle that setup well. I’d rather build something deeply committed with one person who shares the same values about exclusivity.
Completely get you, sis, your perspective is so thoughtful and grounded. ❤️ Mutual exclusivity really does create that deep sense of trust and security, and it’s clear you know what your heart needs. Thanks for the kind mention!
There’s something so powerful about your phrase: "choosing each other fully — not partially." For many of us, the true depth and magic of a relationship come from that exclusive bond. It’s hard to be completely vulnerable if you feel like the foundation is being shared with others.
That means a lot, thank you. I really do believe vulnerability feels safest when it’s shared in a space that’s just ours. For me, that exclusivity is what allows the depth to grow.
