Dizzy Gillespie on Steve Wonder's "Do I Do", Wayne Shorter on Steely Dan's "Aja"...What are some other examples of legendary Jazz musicians guesting on more mainstream pop, R&B or rock songs?
I know there must be other example of famous Jazz musicians playing with well-known rock and pop stars...
Another that comes to mind is Branford Marsalis sitting in with the Grateful Dead at the Nassau Coliseum in Spring 1990. It's a classic that all Dead Heads love, especially this version of "Eyes of the World".

Now that I think about it, Sting put together an all-star group of cats (Branford, Kenny Kirkland, Omar Hakim, etc ) to record his first record after leaving The Police, as documented in the movie Bring on the Night (1985). Really cool movie and it's on YT for free these days...
