If Daredevil: Born Again aired on television, the quality of the subtitles would be in breach of FCC rules
In America per the brief research I've done, the Code of Federal Regulations states a duty to provide subtitles for 100% of new English language programming airing on TV. The code specifies the subtitles should be accurate and synchronised to speech, and specifically states substituting language and paraphrasing is unacceptable.
Over on Disney Plus where this rule doesn't apply, the subtitles in the latest episodes of Daredevil: Born Again rarely resembled what was actually spoken. At points half a sentence would be condensed into a single word and only the back half of the sentence would be written in full.
It is not reassuring, and not surprising, that Disney would let quality slip on something they already have the mechanism to do to a high standard presumably just to save money at the first moment they're not legally prevented from doing so. Enshittified. #movies #video
