Help us decide how to camp!

My spouse and I have been tent camping for years. However, last year I hurt my back badly and setting up became more difficult (we were using a TNF Wawona 8) and my spouse is disabled. So we got rid of our tent, cots, sleeping bags, etc. However, regret runs deep and we miss doing the things.

We are a family of 2 adults and 2 large dogs (greyhounds).

1. Get a vehicle awning with rooms. We have a roofrack that will support this. We'd do this for a max of 3 nights sleeping in our vehicle with the seats reclined. Bad news is that we'd have to remove it from our vehicle anytime we wanted to explore the area. Good news is that we'd have the tent and/or awning at all times.
2. Get a different tent and repurchase stuff. Thinking a Timber Ridge (aka Gazelle dupe). The 8 person runs at 40 pounds. Bad news is that it's similar to what we were doing before. Good news is that we don't have to break down if we want to go explore. A rooftop tent is not ideal given the above variables.

We'd pursue both options via FB Marketplace first.

Because my spouse is disabled, we get "tent camping" via Recreation for half off.
