Hot Take: Anakin's visions of Padme's death should have started at the end of AOTC
We all know how it plays out in ROTS. Anakin kills Dooku, he comes home, he starts having force visions of Padme's death. This freaks him out, he starts seeking ways to prevent it, somewhere along the way like 8 months pass (i have no idea when this time jump is supposed to occur in the movie), and then he sides with Sidious to save Padme
It always felt a little... rushed. We know he's been suffering with this for awhile, but it doesn't feel like it in the film. It mostly just comes across as one bad dream and him freaking out.
But imagine instead that it's been persistent for *years*.
Imagine that Anakin started envisioning Padme's death at the *start* of the Clone Wars instead of the end. That he believes that the war is going to kill Padme and he has to bring peace by any means necessary. That he has been making darker and darker choices to end the war as quickly as possible, up to and including executing Dooku.
And then after all this awful shit he's already done... the visions still don't stop. The war is functionally over and Padme is still in danger. Nothing he has done has worked or even helped. He's desperate. And then he caves to Palpatine.
