Resident Alien (Series)
After an emergency landing on Earth because his spaceship is damaged by lightning, an alien kills forensic pathologist Dr. Harry Vanderspeigle and assumes his form and identity. The alien is on a mission to wipe out humanity, but to do so he must search for the device lost in the crash. When the local doctor is found dead during this time, the mayor of Patience asks the supposed doctor, Dr. Vanderspeigle, to perform an autopsy. He is also asked to take over the doctor's surgery as a substitute. The alien struggles with the moral dilemma of his secret mission, while a 9-year-old boy is able to recognize the alien's true form due to a genetic peculiarity. When the alien finally makes an unsuccessful journey home to his planet, a stowaway forces him to make another emergency landing on Earth. To prevent the damaged spaceship from being discovered, he finally decides to destroy it, thereby making the sacrifice of being stranded on Earth. After getting to know the humans, his main goal is now to contact his home planet and prevent the extinction of humanity.
His inner conflicts with “humanization” and his homesickness cause him ever greater problems. Added to this are the circumstances of his taken personality of Dr. Vanderspeigle and the “alien hunter” General McCallister, which present him with further challenges.
