The Avengers - Black Widow’s line “I’ve been compromised”
Hey all, I’m looking for some input to help me get my head around Black Widow’s motivation in the conversation she has with Clint after he’s come out from Loki’s thrall in 2012’s “The Avengers”.
Earlier in her conversation with Loki she tells him that she wants to save Clint because he did the same for her when he was sent to kill her. She has red in her ledger and she wants to clear it.
Then later, when speaking with Clint, when she says she’s going to join the fight against Loki, Clint asks her why, as she’s a spy not a soldier. She replies that she has been compromised, and that she has red in her ledger that she wants to clear.
This conversation with Clint has left me confused, and I cannot fully understand her motivation in this scene.
Is Natasha joining the fight against Loki because of what he did to Clint, and even though he is back to normal she is seeking revenge for what he put him through?
When Natasha says she’s been compromised is she referring to her conversation when Loki revealed that Clint had told him all about her actions prior to joining SHIELD? Draykov’s daughter and the hospital fire?
Or does her line of “I’ve been compromised” refer to the fact that something Loki did to someone that she cared about reminded her that she still has human feelings and she wants to join the fight to stop him instead of sneaking around in the shadows?
