Fiesta Celebrations in our province
a) What the day means to you:
Fiestas are a time of joy and community in the Philippines. They hold significant cultural and religious importance, often honoring patron saints and marking historical events. For me, fiestas are about coming together with family and friends, celebrating our heritage, and expressing gratitude and faith.
b) How you prepare for and celebrate it:
Preparation for a fiesta can be extensive. It usually starts weeks in advance with planning and organizing. Homes are cleaned and decorated with colorful buntings. Families prepare special dishes, often coordinating to ensure a variety of foods. On the day of the fiesta, there are usually parades, processions, and religious services. Music and dance are also a big part of the celebration.
c) Any special traditions or customs:
One of the key customs is Street dancing and cultural presentations showcasing traditional Filipino attire and dances are common. Hospitality is also a cornerstone; homes are open to guests and visitors is a must.
d) What special foods or dishes are part of the celebrations:
From the traditional pig slaughter to preparing delicious dishes like pork paksiw and dinuguan the night before, every moment of our fiesta is a cherished part of our culture. We celebrate with a morning feast of pancit paired with suman, followed by a hearty lunch featuring igado, menudo, caldereta, and pork steak and more. And of course, we can’t forget dessert—our special "rock n roll" made from cassava and refreshing buko salad! Here’s to family, friends, and feasting together!
