Does it bothered anyone else a bit that canon states Yoda's age of death as exactly 900?
In Return of the Jedi, Yoda says he's 900 years old, right before he dies.
My interpretation was that he likely wasn't exactly 900 years old. He said his age in a context where exact age wasn't important; he was talking about physical appearance. It's not like he would have looked noticably different at 880 years. In a similar vein, I'm 43, and when I complain about how ny knees are fucked at my age, I might say that the knees aren't what they used to be "when you're 40".
Also, you get less precise about stating your exact age as you get older. Before age seven, you make sure to add "and a half" to your age if more than six months have passed since your last birthday. But when you're 77, you might say "man, you sure get tired when you're eighty".
So my interpretation was that when Yoda complained about his looks in ROTJ, he could have been 933, he could have been 896, but probably not exactly 900.
And yet, sources such as Wikipedia state his birthdate as 986 BBY, as if his age in ROTJ was literally 900.
Anyway, it bugs me a bit.
