New homeowner here. My wife and I just bought a 1997 ranch in Maine that has a wet backyard. Among the many projects we are hoping to complete before moving in, creating a new system that keeps water away from the house is at the top of the list. This will involve regrading the lawn near the house and installing window wells for the four basement windows. Current set up is sump pump in the basement that runs up through a series of PVC pipes that exits the foundation through a boarded up window that is poorly sealed (outside view, first picture below). Previously, it looks as though it ran directly through the foundation, but that pipe is labeled "Clogged?" The terminus of this line is not known, but it is shut off from the rest of the system. (outside view, second picture below)
I'm wondering if the best long term answer is to have the drainage run out through the same window and seal it more properly (this window is in the boiler room and we are not worried about receiving light from it) or if we should once again go through another hole in the foundation. All advice appreciated!
