If something unexpected happens tomorrow, Alhamdulillah I believe we can manage for at least a month. I carefully plan my household budget, which helps us run things smoothly. However, due to rising inflation, things have become slightly difficult. Still, we are trying our best to manage wisely and stay within our means.
2. Inflation Snapshot
Recently, inflation has affected us a lot. One of the most shocking changes for me was the increase in local transport fares. In my area, we used to travel by local “chingchi” for 20 rupees, but now it has increased to 30 rupees. Because of this, I have decided to walk instead—it also helps me stay active.
The biggest increase in expenses has been in milk, petrol, and gas cylinders. My husband handles the children’s school and college pick-and-drop, which requires around 7–8 trips daily, so petrol costs have increased significantly. Due to severe gas load shedding in Karachi, we often have to use gas cylinders for cooking, which has also become expensive.
Previously, I used to give milk to my children every night, but now I can only provide it occasionally because of the high cost.
To manage all this, I rely on careful budgeting and being very economical. Alhamdulillah, I still manage to run the household for the whole month, but inflation has made things more challenging.
This situation has taught me an important lesson: we should always practice patience and gratitude. Life does not remain the same forever, and difficult times remind us to value what we have.

To strengthen my financial anchor, I have decided that within the next month, I will reduce unnecessary expenses by creating a strict grocery list that includes only essential items.
Specific: Limit groceries to essential items only
Measurable: Reduce extra spending on non-essential items
Achievable: By planning before shopping
Relevant: Helps control monthly budget
Time-bound: I will follow this plan consistently for the next 30 days
I will also make sure to use all household items carefully to avoid any waste.
