Australia has a fuel security problem. It is a major producer of energy, but most of its oil production is of the wrong kind for its own domestic use.
Australian fields yield light and ultra-light crude/condensate (roughly 55–70° API) – while diesel and jet fuel, which come from the middle of the barrel (\~30–49° API), make up around 70% of the liquid fuel Australia's economy runs on. #education source
