Despite measuring many times....I then drilled 4 about an inch off...What's best option?
I've been trying to add a laptop stand to my maker desk. I've been going slowly, working out all the steps, measuring multiple times, but somehow..somehow\*...I screwed up and when I went to final assembly, I discovered I messed up and my mounts are an inch or two too far apart.
Now, the fixes are pretty much an easy way and a hard way.
The easy way is I just move one mount the right amount of space over, drill new bolt holes into the desk back and I'm good.
The hard way is to NOT drill new holes into the desk back and make whole new mounting brackets.
The concern is...the desk back is just some light piece of wood I had mounted to keep things from rolling off the back. Maybe Pine or cedar? I'm pretty sure it was just a piece of that really cheap "picket" wood that Home Depot sells. WILL putting more holes compomise the board too much (it's held to the desk with screws and some brackets I just added).
(\*I am thinking that there was another point I had screwed up and I fixed it, but I think I messed up on the next measurements that were needed because of the fix). #diy source
