I believe in forgiveness, even when it comes to infidelity, but that doesnβt mean I believe in ignoring the damage. Cheating hurts deeply because it breaks trust, and trust is the foundation of any relationship. If it was a one-time mistake and the person shows real remorse, honesty, and accountability, I would consider forgiving. Forgiveness to me is not weakness; itβs strength with boundaries. I would require complete transparency, no secrets, and consistent effort to rebuild what was broken. Words alone would never be enough actions over time would matter most.
However, forgiveness does not mean forgetting. If the cheating was repeated, involved lying without guilt, or included public humiliation, that would cross my line. Leaving me for the other person would also be something I could not accept. I believe people can make human errors, but patterns of betrayal show character. Culture and personal values play a role too, because loyalty and respect are deeply important where I come from. In the end, I forgive once if there is true change, but I will not stay where I am constantly disrespected.
