YSK-A boundary is not what you need someone else to do for you to feel ok. A boundary is an enforceable decision you make on what you will and won’t do/accept.
Why YSK- I’m so tired of hearing “they crossed my boundaries”. 99% of the time it’s you misunderstanding what a boundary is and/or failing to enforce it. For example, a boundary is not “Please don’t smoke around me”. This relies on someone else’s behavior and accountability. Rather, a boundary is “Please don’t smoke around me. If you do, I will have to leave or ask you to leave”. This allows you to be in control, and prevents you from blaming/using excuses and from being or feeling like a victim. It’s YOUR boundary, not theirs. #education source
