1. Describe your current trash setup at home in 2–3 sentences. My current trash setup at home is simple. I immediately throw trash into the dustbin as soon as it is produced. Most of the waste in my home is vegetable peels, which I put in the dustbin, and every morning and night my husband collects the trash and throws it outside in the garbage area where everyone in the locality disposes of their waste. Later at night, the garbage is usually burned there.
2. What’s your “trash personality”? (e.g., separate everything type, one big bag type, wait until it’s overflowing type, guilty but messy type, etc.) My trash personality is the “one big bag type.” I put all the trash into one bag instead of separating it.
3. What’s the hardest part about managing trash in your home? (e.g., smell, space, no recycling nearby, confusion about what’s recyclable, etc) The hardest part of managing trash in my home is the smell. Sometimes the trash in the dustbin starts to smell, which is uncomfortable. Also, we don’t focus much on recycling because my husband usually throws the trash outside at night.
4. What’s one trash habit you’re proud of? One trash habit I’m proud of is that I don’t let trash stay in the house for too long. As soon as it collects, I make sure it is thrown out and not left to pile up.
5. What’s one small change you’d like to try with your trash management? One small change I would like to try is separating wet and dry waste. I think it will help reduce smell and make trash management a little more organized.
