ELI5: What actually happens to cells when someone has Type 2 diabetes?
Hi! I’m in 8th grade and I’m curious about Type 2 diabetes. I understand that it has something to do with insulin and blood sugar, but I want to know what actually happens inside the cells. Can someone please explain: What is the normal function of the cells involved in controlling blood sugar? What organelle or cell structure is involved? What does that organelle or structure normally do? What goes wrong at the cell level when someone has Type 2 diabetes?
I’m just trying to understand it for a school topic, so a simple explanation would be really helpful. #education
