      #earn  activity

I’m the youngest child in our family, and honestly, I grew up without pressure and ristrictions. I didn’t have to handle bills, raise siblings, or carry adult problems. I was so so lucky to just be a kid.
But one memory that stuck with me isn’t about my own home — it’s about our neighbor’s family.
The Moment:
I was around 10 when I noticed our neighbor’s 7-year-old daughter always outside hanging laundry, carrying her baby brother, or running to the small store alone. One afternoon, I heard her mom shouting from inside the house, telling her to stop crying and “act mature.” The little girl wiped her tears quickly and went back to rocking her baby brother like it was normal. No toys. No play. Just responsibility.
How It Felt:
I remember feeling confused. At that age, I was still playing games and watching cartoons. Seeing someone younger than me act like a second mother felt strange and unfair. It made me quiet that day. I didn’t know the word for it back then, but I knew something wasn’t right.
Impact Now:
Growing up, I became more observant about how families function. I notice when children are forced to grow up too fast. It made me value healthy boundaries and balanced responsibility. I’m more aware that not every “mature” child is okay — sometimes they’re just surviving..
One Takeaway:
Every child deserves to be a child. Responsibility should match age. If I ever become a parent, I’ll make sure my child’s role is to learn, play, and grow — not to carry adult burdens.
