I feel so so bad for Brie, Teyonah and Iman and Zawe
In my opinion this movie would have done just fine before 2019. Whatever the typical numbers were back then, it would have done it. It probably definitely would have done just fine if they released it after Shang Chi when MCU still had good will amongst the audience.
I don't know what the cinemas looked liked when GOTG3 dropped. Was it as empty as my theatre for The Marvels but then good word of mouth started filling seats as time progressed? If so I'm hoping the same thing for The Marvels. Yeah I want something to finally get through to Disney execs that whatever the fuck it is You're doing is NOT WORKING but not on Teyonah and Imans debut and not for Brie who has been flogged for reasons I can't understand since her first movie dropped. People were making reaction videos on YouTube trying to convince us that she was a BIG problem since Jeremy Renner and Don Cheadle didn't seem to like her...And I'm saying this as someone who didn't think of her character after watching her movie cause it was just meh to me. I was not spending my days dunking on the actress though
It must be gutting to see the numbers for the movie and have people geeked that it's tanking. A movie they worked hard on. I'm not saying other actors didn't work hard on their characters. But if a Thor or Captain America movie bombed, the actors wouldn't be so despondent cause they have a couple of MCU wins under their belt already. These women ( Teyonah and Iman) have none. Samuel L Jackson has been Nick Fury for a while so he will be fine
I wish I had a time machine to tell Kevin not to wait and just make the movie. The D+ shows could come after.
Naw seriously. Imagine debuting in THE mcu and this is what happens. It would not really have been a thing pre 2019 even though there were movies back then that divided the fandom.
