So I just got a new computer monitor, and in the past I've tried wrapping my head around HDR, and it just doesn't click for me. I understand it is high dynamic range, and that it is supposed to increase the range between the darkest and brightest possible colours.
However there's a HDR setting in the monitor settings, there's a HDR setting in Windows (that makes everything look incredibly washed out), and there is often HDR settings in games. I've not been able to find any good way to test it on/off with any actual visible difference.
Is HDR actually something usable today? How do I actually get the benefits of having a HDR monitor? Thanks in advance! #education source
