Boondocking with Food in the Car in Bear Country.
Hello, this year i finally took the step an will do a 2 month solo road trip while car camping/boondocking.
Area wise i want to be around Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Utah. Somewhere in that general area. Now i am from the EU so i have absolutely zero bear experience, and i just found out about the food in car problem when bears are around.
Obviously, since its rather warm, id love to sleep with the windows cracked, would taht worsen the odds. Since im basically living in the car for 2 months it obviously will reek of all the goodies, even if i dont have them in there while sleeping.
What are the best precautions i can take her to have a safe trip?
I learned about bear boxes at camp ground/parking lots, and will use them if i can, but what do i do if there arent any. i Also read you should hang the food and all scented stuff from on a tree, but i mean the whole car situation will still smell scented and like food?
