How do you cover a French Drain inside a basement before laying down LVP?
The concrete over the French drains around the perimeter inside my basement is crumbling pretty badly, gravel exposed in places. How do I prep it for LVP?
The answers I’m seeing around are to mix up an extra dry batch of concrete and try to skim coat over the gravel. Won’t that just crumble the same way? A friend told me to pour leveling compound over it but won’t that just sink in and clog the drain? #diy source
A bone-dry skim over loose gravel is a cracker on stones, so it can crumble the same way. You want the loose bits out, the gravel packed so it cannot shift, then a real repair bed that keys into sound concrete, not a cosmetic dusting. The drain still has to move water, so do not seal the channel shut. How wide is the crumbling strip, and what did your friend actually finish that sentence with? #diy
