This is my Sapphire Sandwich Speedmaster Professional, on the OEM bracelet. I do have a few other straps for it, but the bracelet is where this watch feels most at home to me. It also turned out to be the perfect travel setup: extremely comfortable over long days, and the micro-adjustment made a real difference as the weather and wrist size changed throughout the trip (not to mention it’s tricker to someone to unclasp it from my wrist).
For this Italy trip I only brought this one watch with me. I have other watches at home, including a few Rolexes, but this is the only one I truly see as a GADA piece in my own collection. It felt just as right exploring ruins and museums as it did at nicer dinners later in the evening. That versatility is what keeps bringing me back to the Speedmaster.
Another thing that surprised me on this trip: despite seeing Rolexes everywhere across Italy, I’ve never had as many spontaneous conversations with fellow watch geeks as I did while wearing this Speedy. I wore it basically 24/7, and it got noticed far more often than I expected.
For those of you who travel with watches: do you prefer taking one single watch for the whole trip, or do you like bringing a small rotation? And if you had to choose one watch to wear for a few weeks away from home, what would it be? #luxury source
