Re-watching the show and I can’t help but think, they intentionally were making everyone in TFATWS hypocritical right?
So the flag smashers are a terrorist group that believes their end goal justifies the means - living in a world not dictated by borders and ensuring every group of people has the resources they need, especially since they’ve been exhausted following the blip. They don’t care about the destruction they cause or the innocent lives taken in the process.
To fight the terrorist group, Bucky and falcon willingly work with….. a major terrorist, Baron Zemo. And the way in which they break Zemo out of prison was pretty immoral. Bucky basically didn’t give a shit about causing a prison riot where people inevitably get hurt and leading one person to believe they were going to be killed by another.
Then we have John Walker and lemar. They are firm on doing things “by the book”, considering they work for the US government…. until, well, it inconveniences them.
Even the Dora milaje come in, and profess how it’s wrong for them to keep Zemo and use him to fight hydra, considering he killed t’chaka, but seemingly they have no regard for doing things the right way as they flat out state they have jurisdiction wherever they choose.
I’m just left here thinking did they intentionally write these characters to be hypocritical? Because I can actually appreciate writing characters and a story in a way that’s a bit more complex and in a morally grey area but it almost seems like to me they’re trying to show Bucky and falcon as being in the ‘right’ when I don’t get that at all?
