Picking my spot to camp in Colorado. So, I have checked…

Picking my spot to camp in Colorado.

So, I have checked into what is available to me. I want to be out there soon, so most State parks (close enough) are booked for a month or 2. The other, most available option are National forests. (Which may have areas booked for paid camping sites) but generally, the dispersed camping will be available.

So, I plan to do a little more research. And find the forest roads that are open to all vehicles. Or at least (highway). And as long as the area is on the forest land area of the map, it should be good to travel through, which would help me find a suitable place to camp.

I have drove through some forest trails before, (but not seeking a cs). But I’ve honestly never explored a National Forest. (I can read a map, decently and used one fine when jeeping through a state forest).

I have camped at a primitive site and I much prefer that (especially when alone).

I’ve also solo camped at a campground and I found that somehow makes it lonely, because you know there are people, somewhat close by. But most people are with their families to have bonding time and obviously, solo camping you’re sort of looking for solitude.

I think I will be fine driving the trail until I find a nice spot. I’ve been researching for hours, and honestly, Google and the MVTM only show you so much… it’s like the old fashioned get out and try and find it has to happen a bit (of course double checking with the Rangers before heading to a general area and getting some great advice from them).

What do you guys think? (Anyone know any places about Max 2 hour drive from Colorado Spring?)
