I've recently started my weekend hobby of hitting the dunes and let tell you that it's been a crazy learning experience so far. The reason I write this post today is to gain as much as technical information about these vehicles. Mind you here in the middle East, majority of what off-road really means here is hitting the dunes. We don't have much rock climbing or jungle mud terrains out here. Going ahead with that, we just deal with alot of sand and heat here.
Below are the vehicles that is popular in the market here. - Toyota Land Cruiser (All Gens) - Toyota FJ Cruiser - Nissan Patrol Y61 & Y62 - Nissan Patrol Pick Up - Nissan X-Terra - Jeeps - GM SUVs and Trucks (Tahoe, Sierra, Silverado)
I would love to hear your thoughts on comparing these vehicles or ownership experiences based on comfort, performance, reliability, overheating, interior space, etc.
In the end for me it boils down to between the LC 200 5.7L V8 Vs the Nissan Patrol Y62 V8. Let me know your thoughts on what's the better deal and the challenges that comes with it?
Some extra questions. - Solid axle or Independent suspension? - 2-doors or 4-doors - V6 or Inline 6 - MT or AT with manual shifter - Cold air intake or snorkel for the desert - Turbo or supercharger for the desert - Patrol Y62 320 SE or Y62 400 LE
I'm writing this post as a resident of Doha Qatar, but this is the similar case in other countries like Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait etc. #sport source
