Deadpool hit cinemas 10 years ago today!
I still remember the whole situation with the leaked test footage and Ryan Reynolds basically pushing for the movie to actually get made. And that whole Valentine’s Day marketing campaign. It genuinely felt like an impossible fan dream that somehow got willed into existence.
Legit question, back then, did you ever expect the *Merc with a Mouth* to end up in the MCU? Like if someone told me in 2016 “yeah, Deadpool and the entire FOX Marvel catalog eventually join the MCU,” I’d 100% call them insane.
What would your reaction have been?
Note: I remember watching the premiere at a midnight screening when I was studying in the UK (Brighton). I got a massive Diet Coke, and then I was explaining who Deadpool is to some friends, sat down, and immediately spilled my drink everywhere. Spent the trailers cleaning it up. Still totally worth it.
