Let's bake a BASKETBALL CAKE =) #CAKE #DESSERT #CHOCOLATECAKE #FONDANT #IC5 #AI

🏀🎂 Complete Basketball Ball Cake Recipe
A realistic 3D basketball-shaped cake with chocolate cake layers, creamy frosting, and orange fondant.
🍰 Makes
1 basketball cake, about 15–18 cm (6–7 in.) diameter
Serves about 8–12
Ingredients
Chocolate Cake
1½ cups all-purpose flour
¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1½ cups sugar
1½ tsp baking powder
1½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
2 eggs
¾ cup milk
½ cup vegetable oil
2 tsp vanilla extract
¾ cup hot water or hot coffee
Chocolate Buttercream
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
3 cups powdered sugar
½ cup cocoa powder
2–4 tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla
Pinch of salt
Basketball Decoration
About 500–700 g orange fondant
Black fondant or black decorating icing
Small amount of white fondant for optional details
Cornstarch or powdered sugar for rolling
🏀 Step-by-Step
1. Bake the cake
Preheat oven to 175°C / 350°F.
Grease and line two 7-inch round cake pans.
Whisk flour, cocoa, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Mix until combined.
Slowly add the hot water/coffee and mix. The batter will be fairly thin.
Divide between the pans.
Bake for approximately 25–32 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cool completely before decorating.
2. Make the buttercream
Beat the butter until fluffy.
Add powdered sugar and cocoa gradually, then add vanilla, salt, and enough milk to create a smooth, spreadable frosting.
3. Build the basketball
Level the cooled cakes.
Spread buttercream between the layers.
Stack them.
Trim the edges slightly to create a more rounded shape.
Coat the entire cake with a thin layer of buttercream.
Chill until the frosting is firm.
Apply another layer and smooth it into a rounded ball shape.
4. Add the orange basketball covering
Knead the orange fondant until soft.
Roll it into a large circle, roughly 3–4 mm thick.
Carefully drape it over the chilled cake.
Smooth the fondant from the top downward, working around the cake to remove wrinkles.
Trim the excess at the bottom.
5. Create the basketball lines 🏀
Use thin strips of black fondant or black decorating icing.
Add:
One curved vertical line
One curved horizontal line
Two large curved lines crossing around the ball
Gently press the lines onto the orange surface so they look like authentic basketball channels.
🔥 Final viral presentation
Put the finished cake on a small basketball-court-style cake board. Add an edible “22” or “ADAMSON FALCONS” decoration if you want the same theme as your photo.
For a viral video, film the fondant reveal, black-line detailing, and final 360° basketball spin in close-up. 🏀🎂🔥
Oven and hot-pan steps should be done with an adult's help/supervision.

Good morning and Happy Sunday, my dear friends! 🌞🌸

Let me tell you a little about one of our traditions here in Mauritius for the Feast of the Assumption of Mary . 🙏🏼💙 Every year, we usually have a special cake called “Gâteau Marie.” 🍰 It’s almost a must-have for the celebration!

Now, I have to confess something, 😂 I usually don’t really like the ones sold in the shops. I much prefer making my own because, of course, I always think mine is better! 🤣👩‍🍳 But yesterday I simply didn’t have enough time to make one. So my nephew came to the rescue and bought one. And when I saw it, I thought, “Okay, this is not exactly my homemade Gâteau Marie, but let’s give it a chance!” 😂

And guess what? It came with LOTS of chantilly! 🤣🍰☁️ Honestly, there was so much whipped cream that the cake was practically hiding underneath it! At this point, I’m not sure whether we were celebrating the Assumption or the Assumption of the Cake into a Mountain of Chantilly! 😂😂

But traditions are traditions, and even when the cake isn’t homemade, it still brings everyone together around the table. ❤️ Family, laughter, a little sweetness, and perhaps enough chantilly to last until Christmas! 🤣

So today, I’m still enjoying our little Mauritian tradition with a grateful heart, and trying very hard not to eat the whole cake! 😋🍰

May your Sunday be filled with faith, family, love, laughter, and of course, a delicious slice of cake! ❤️✨🙏🏼🌹
