💸 #InflationFix Challenge Inflation has been loud lately , prices climbing while incomes feel stuck — but giving up isn’t an option. My inflation fix starts with smarter policies: the government should strengthen price controls on basic goods, expand food and transport subsidies, and support small local producers so supply stays stable and affordable. Personally, I’ve learned to budget with intention, switch to generic brands, buy in bulk with family, and cut impulse spending instead of sacrificing my health. When prices explode, I refuse to skip healthy food — good nutrition is an investment, not a luxury , so I stop buying unnecessary wants and focus on needs that actually sustain me. I also track expenses weekly and plan meals ahead to avoid waste, which saves more than people realize. Inflation is tough, but with the right policies and smarter habits, we can survive it together and come out more financially aware and resilient. 💪
Real Talk! This year really tested us with inflation 😓 — prices are skyrocketing, but incomes stayed the same. Every shopping trip makes you stop and think: do I really need this? On my side, I’ve started taking small steps: ✔ Cutting unnecessary spending ✔ Choosing local and seasonal products ✔ Cooking at home and planning weekly meals 🍲 These little changes are making a real difference. We can’t stop inflation, but we can handle it smarter 💪✨.
Let’s be real—inflation is a constant, and being prepared is the only way to stay afloat. I learned from a financial literacy book that inflation is one of the biggest factors in our financial lives, so my family and I built this survival plan to stay ahead of it.👌💯
We started earning early in our marriage, and once we hit our "emergency fund" goal, we stopped just saving and started investing. If you just let your money sit in a bank, inflation eats it alive; it won’t grow. Anyway we don't save in banks, we opted for cooperatives that give us back more. We choose to live a simple, frugal life, and before we buy anything—whether it’s clothes or food—we ask these three questions: Do I actually need this, or do I just want it? If I need it, is this the best value, or is there a better alternative? Where exactly is the money for this coming from?
Everything we do is tracked. For daily consumables, we use the "Takal Mentality"—buying in small "tingi" amounts to ensure we don’t blow our daily budget. However, for non-perishables like laundry soap or cooking oil, we do the opposite and buy in bulk. This switch alone saves us about 15% to 20% a year.
With fuel prices jumping all over the place, we started using an electric bike for the kids’ school runs. It’s not just about saving fuel; since my husband gets a gas allowance from work, the gas we "save" during the week goes toward our weekend road trips! 🚘🚘🚘We also use solar power at home to keep our electric bills manageable.💡💡💡
When it comes to health vs. cravings, we skip the fast food. It’s either a nice fine-dining treat or a home-cooked meal. 🍲🍳🥣In the Philippines, "healthy" doesn’t have to mean expensive salads. We stick to the Bahay Kubo diet. My kids even memorized the song to remind them that local veggies like malunggay, sayote, and sitaw are just as healthy as expensive broccoli.
When onion and ginger prices skyrocket? We use leeks or lemongrass. If those aren’t around, I’ll admit I use onion powder or canned tomato paste. Pizza and milk tea are "once a quarter" treats. We’re teaching the kids: Needs before Wants. We’re even helping them start tiny businesses so they can earn their own extra allowance.💲🤑🫰
I can’t control government policy or inflation rates, so I don't stress over what I can’t change. To be fair, our government is trying a "whole-of-nation" approach with things like Rice Tariffs, Price Watching (SRP), Kadiwa Centers, and Power Saving projects. But honestly? When I do charity work and see our fellow brethren struggling, I can feel that it’s still not enough. It’s heartbreaking, but at the end of the day, I’m not the government—I can only control what happens under my own roof.🤷
The bottom line: When prices inflate, you have to deflate your lifestyle until you reach your freedom goal. Anyway, I’ve talked enough! My tongue is getting ahead of me. Stay smart with your pesos!🤓🧠🌻✨
