February 19, 2026… #movieoftheday is Joan of Arc (full movie) (1948).
“ Joan of Arc is a 1948 American epic, historical drama film directed by Victor Fleming , and starring Ingrid Bergman as the eponymous French religious icon and war heroine . It was produced by Walter Wanger and is based on Maxwell Anderson 's successful Broadway play Joan of Lorraine , which also starred Bergman, and was adapted for the screen by Anderson himself, in collaboration with Andrew Solt. It is the last film Fleming directed before his death in 1949.” – more at Wikipedia
Ingrid Bergman is spellbinding as the 15th century French peasant girl who rouses a nation and inspires the world with her faith and bravery. Fiercely believing she’s directed by God, Joan triumphantly leads an army into battle against the English who are driven from France. Yet, as Joan's influence grows, the king becomes increasingly wary of her and ultimately betrays her to her death and martyrdom. This award-winning movie, directed by Victor Fleming (GONE WITH THE WIND), is a powerful story of one of history's most fascinating heroines.
