One thing people always notice about me is how I start tapping my fingers really fast whenever I’m nervous or thinking too much 😭 At first it’s just small taps, but after a few seconds my hand starts moving nonstop like I’m making a beat on the table or my leg 💀
This usually happens when I’m excited, waiting for something important, or feeling stressed in class or during conversations. I honestly don’t even realize I’m doing it most of the time.
My friends laugh and say they can always tell when I’m overthinking because the tapping starts immediately 😂 Some people even copy the sound to tease me. It used to make me embarrassed, but now I just laugh with them because it became one of my funny habits.
I tried stopping this habit many times, especially in quiet places, but after a few minutes I automatically start doing it again without noticing 😅 I guess it’s just one of those little quirks that became part of me.
1. Give details about how you act: What does it look, sound, or feel like? When does it usually show up the most? I usually start to shake my legs and i even don't know but my mind is doing this without telling me just like I'm thinking about something.
2. Talk about what usually makes this behavior happen: Is it stress, excitement, boredom, or a certain social situation?
This mostly happened to me when I'm nervous and thinking about something and I can't make any decisions and I'm so nervous and confused.
3. Record the reactions: What have people around you said or done when they see your behavior? How do these responses make you feel? They always point my name and told me to stop and not doing this although my mom strictly stopped me to do this and then i think really i shouldn't do this.
4. Think about the change: Have you ever tried to change or get rid of this habit? If so, how did it go and what happened? Yeah, i tried to change this because yeah it feels awkward when suddenly I'm start doing this not in my conscious, and I just focus on not doing this.
Picture one is about like I'm ready to do this Picture 2 is about when someone point me to not do this Picture 3 is about like ok I'm done with this
. Question 1: Give details about how you act: What does it look, sound, or feel like? When does it usually show up the most? Answer: I talk with my hands a lot while speaking. It is not linked to any specific emotion like stress or excitement; it is just my normal way of expressing myself. Question 3: Record the reactions: What have people around you said or done when they see your behavior? How do these responses make you feel? Answer: People often notice my hand movements and sometimes tell me to control them. Some also tease or laugh, which makes me a little conscious but it is still a natural habit for me Question 4: Think about the change: Have you ever tried to change or get rid of this habit? If so, how did it go and what happened? Answer: I have tried to stop using my hands while talking, but I cannot fully control it.
