Since I was so busy yesterday that I barely had time to take photos of the birthday lunch, here are a few pictures my sister kindly sent me. Thank goodness for sisters! 😂📸 Otherwise, you’d have to believe my stories without any evidence! 🤣🙈
Our Chinese menu started with sushi, followed by Niouk Yen, Teokon, meatball soup (our beloved Boulettes Chinois), 😋 fried meefoon, sweet-and-sour fish, and more delicious dishes whose photos are still missing! 😂🍜🐟
Between eating, chatting, and celebrating, I clearly forgot my duties as the official photographer! 🤭🤣
Tell me, friends, do you photograph your food first or start eating before anyone can stop you? 😂🍽️❤️
Crossing the Bridge Noodles (Guoqiao Mixian) is a heartwarming Yunnan classic born from love. Legend tells of a scholar’s wife who crossed a long bridge daily to bring him lunch. To keep it hot during the journey, she discovered that a layer of chicken oil insulated the broth, so she carried the ingredients separately to add later.
It is served as an interactive feast. You receive a massive bowl of scalding broth alongside separate plates of paper-thin raw meats, vegetables, and silky rice noodles. You cook it yourself at the table by dropping the ingredients into the soup—meats first!—ensuring a fresh, tender bite. 😋 So Yummy! ❤️
Did you know that Dim Sum originated from ancient tea houses along the Silk Road?
Travelers and traders would stop for tea, and small bite-sized snacks were introduced to accompany their drinks. Over time, this evolved into the delicious variety of dumplings, buns, and rolls we love today!
Next time you enjoy Dim Sum, remember —it's more than just food; it's history on a plate! 🍜🇨🇳
