The older I get, the more I realize how much confidence changes the way we experience life.
But I think we misunderstand where confidence comes from.
People tell me they lost their confidence as if it disappeared somewhere along the way. But confidence did not pack its bags and leave you.
Confidence is an emotion, and emotions begin with thought.
That is TEAR in action. Your thoughts influence your emotions. Your emotions influence your actions. Your actions help create your results.
The problem is that most people repeatedly think about the moments they failed, struggled, made mistakes, or felt rejected. Then they wonder why confidence feels so far away.
Change what you are giving your attention to.
Think about a moment when you succeeded. A moment when you overcame something difficult. A moment when you were proud of yourself.
Now rebuild that experience in your imagination. See what you saw. Hear what you heard. Feel what you felt. Make the experience vivid enough that your body begins responding to the memory.
You are reminding yourself of evidence that already exists.
Confidence is not pretending you can do something you have never done. It is reconnecting with the evidence that you have figured things out before and trusting yourself enough to act again.
Then action creates new evidence.
That evidence creates stronger thoughts. Stronger thoughts influence your emotional energy. That energy influences your next action.
You did not lose your confidence.
You stopped creating the thoughts, emotions, and actions that allowed you to experience it.
Start creating it again.

What if you have been searching in the wrong place?
We are told our whole lives to just be ourselves.
But I think there is a question we rarely stop long enough to ask.
Who is that self?
We can spend years searching for ourselves through relationships, careers, money, possessions, accomplishments, approval, and experiences. We keep gathering things hoping eventually we will find the person we were meant to be.
But your True Self was never out there waiting to be found.
It has always been within you waiting to be practiced.
I believe the True Self is built around four things.
Gratitude. Recognizing that we are owed nothing and learning to see the people, moments, opportunities, and experiences in our lives as gifts.
Compassion. Giving to another person without needing recognition, repayment, or reward.
Empathy. Trying to understand someone else’s journey without judgment and without making their experience about our own.
Forgiveness. Releasing the catabolic energy we continue carrying toward those who hurt us, while also learning to forgive ourselves. Forgiveness does not mean allowing continued access. We can forgive and still have healthy boundaries.
This is not something you discover once. It is something you practice daily.
And maybe that is why so many people struggle to find sustainable happiness. They are trying to gather from the outside what can only be produced from within.
Practice gratitude. Give compassion. Choose empathy. Release through forgiveness.
Stop searching for your True Self.
Start producing it.

Take a moment to consider that. What if we are not here with a predefined purpose waiting to be discovered? For years, many of us have believed that each person has a specific purpose in life. I have shared that belief myself, often to encourage others during difficult times and to help them stay motivated in becoming who they are capable of being. But what if the truth is different?
What if there is no purpose assigned to you, and instead, your role is to create it?
It is possible that a greater force has a broader vision, but here and now, you are the one shaping your existence. The life you experience is built through your thoughts, your emotions, and the actions you choose to take each day. If you want a purpose, it is not something you wait for. It is something you create.
This perspective can be freeing. It removes the idea that you must wait for clarity to arrive and replaces it with the responsibility to act. Instead of searching for meaning, you begin building it through how you show up in your life.
Your reality is not something that simply happens to you. It is something you influence through your daily choices. When you become intentional with those choices, your direction becomes clearer.
Sometimes feeling stuck is not about lacking purpose, but about remaining within patterns that were formed during difficult moments. Those patterns can be changed. You can step out of them by choosing a new way forward.
You are not meant to blend in with what is considered normal. You have the ability to challenge yourself, to grow, and to become something greater.
Do not spend your life searching for meaning. Create it.
