I can’t hang up these pieces yet because my landlord does not allow holes in the walls, so for now they rest beautifully on my shelf where I can still enjoy them every day.
These artworks are by South African artist William Onker. His work captures peaceful rural and landscape scenes with a soft, calming style that reflects the beauty and simplicity of South African life and nature.

4 . (a) I bought these three paintings around the Covid period, or shortly after, for R500 each, which was approximately 300 USD at the time, depending on the exchange rate then. I definitely feel they were worth it.
Supporting local art during that period made the pieces feel even more meaningful to me.
(b) During and after Covid, life felt uncertain and stressful for many people, so these paintings gave me a sense of comfort and stillness. They feel gentle and peaceful, almost like an escape from noise and pressure.
(d) Yes, these paintings remind me of the beauty of the South African countryside and small towns. They also remind me of slower moments in life where people appreciated nature, community and simplicity more, and that beauty can often be found in ordinary places.

"Silent balance" - this is my latest purchase. It doesn’t have its own frame, but it doesn’t need one, it fits perfectly with a modern style.
- How much did this framed piece cost you, and do you think it was worth it? It cost around 17 euros and it was absolutely worth it. The artist was a young woman and I immediately liked the way she presented her work.
- What was the first feeling you had when you saw this piece? I love minimalism and this piece was exactly what I was looking for, especially for that fake door, which felt too empty....
- Does this artwork remind you of a memory, a place, or a person? Well ... it definitely makes me think of all the emerging female artists trying to find space to show their work. We should always support young talents. Always! ♥️
