I am fond of latin language because my grandma used to pray in latin during our holy rosary every night and one thing that I love about this topic is the saying about: Ignorantia legis non excusat which literally mean ignorance of law excuses no one. Most of the crime committed in our society actually the defence is always, because they didn't aware that it is prohibited or they have no idea. We have no excuses just to dignify our being only because you don't know the law

My favourite legal maxim is “Fiat justicia ruat caelum” — let justice be done though the heavens fall.
This maxim stands out because it expresses the idea that justice should never be compromised, no matter how difficult or chaotic the situation becomes. It reminds us that truth and fairness are more important than fear, pressure, or consequences. In real life, it reflects the courage needed in courts and decision-making, where doing the right thing is not always the easiest path.
I also like it because it feels powerful and timeless. It shows that law is not just about rules, but about moral strength and responsibility. Even if everything seems to collapse around it, justice must still be upheld — and that message makes it deeply meaningful to me.

“Justice is not a choice, it’s a duty — even if everything falls apart. ⚖️✨

Today I want to share a legal maxim that really made me think.
Ignorantia legis non excusat
Which means… ignorance of the law is not an excuse.
In simple words, it means you can’t say “I didn’t know the law” to escape responsibility. No matter who you are, you are expected to follow the law. Even if you are unaware of a rule, you are still accountable for your actions. That’s what keeps society fair and balanced.
What I really like about this maxim is that it teaches responsibility. It makes it clear that we can’t take things lightly. If ignorance was accepted as an excuse, people would break rules and easily get away with it. This principle pushes us to stay aware, think before we act, and respect the system.
For me, this is not just a legal rule… it’s a life lesson. It reminds us to be careful with our choices and actions. Following the law protects not only us, but everyone around us. And that’s why I chose this maxim.
