It took me a lot of heartbreak to realize I had been looking at love all wrong.. For years, I thought love meant finding my person. The romance. The passion. The soulmate. The forever. And every time that kind of love fell apart, I fell apart with it. I would lie awake asking what was wrong with me. Why wasn’t I enough? Why did everyone else seem to find what I wanted so badly? But while I was staring at another broken love story, I was missing something beautiful.. I was already surrounded by love. It was in the friend who answered the phone when I couldn’t stop crying. The person who sat beside me without trying to fix anything. The family who loved me through every version of myself. The little arms wrapped around my neck. The kindness of someone who expected nothing in return. Love had been showing up everywhere.. I just kept overlooking it because it didn’t look the way I thought it should. That changed me. I stopped calling every failed relationship a mistake. Some were lessons. Some showed me what I would never accept again. Some taught me that being rejected doesn’t mean there was something wrong with me.. Sometimes two people are simply wrong for each other. And thank goodness for that. I’ve been disappointed. Lied to. Taken for granted. I’ve trusted people who didn’t deserve the best parts of me. But I don’t regret loving. Every experience taught me something about my heart, my boundaries and the person I wanted to become. And through all of it, something never changed.. I still love deeply. I still believe in people. I still give my heart when it feels right. Maybe that means I’ll get hurt again someday. I can live with that. Because I would rather have a heart capable of loving fully than become someone afraid to feel. Now I understand.. Love was never absent from my life. It was there the entire time. In friendships. Family. Laughter. Kindness. Connection. And yes.. sometimes romance too. I just had to stop mourning the love that left long enough to appreciate all the love that stayed. So I’ll keep loving. Keep learning. Keep growing. Because there is nothing more beautiful than loving and being loved.. In whatever form it finds me. #LoveDeeply #LifeLessons #HealingHeart #RealLove
💋💞 Oct 1990 – Forever ♾️ Happy Valentines Day 🌹❤️ They said, "I bet they’ll never make it," but just look at us holding on. 🥂
I’m sharing this today because in a world of "temporary," I want to show that true love really does exist. My husband isn’t on this platform to see this post, but he feels this love in every morning coffee, every resolved argument, and every "I love you" we’ve exchanged since 1990.
Real love isn’t the absence of conflict—it’s the choice to fight for each other instead of with each other. We’ve taken the long way, we’ve fought the hard battles, and we’ve celebrated the highest peaks. 35+ years later, we are still together and still going strong. To the man who has been my rock since October 1990: You’re still the one I run to, the one I belong to, and the only one I ever want for life. 🌹✨

It’s during these times of struggle that the strength of relationships is tested, and those who remain are the ones whose care runs deep and unwavering.
These moments of hardship reveal the hearts of those who are willing to weather the storm with you, offering support and love when you need it the most.
