Why does wine feel easy until someone asks you to pick the bottle?
You know how wine just kind of exists in your life? You drink it at dinners, you enjoy it at parties, you've got a rough idea of what you like red over white usually maybe you know you like something that doesn't taste like straight up grape juice mixed with regret. Then someone hands you a wine list and every single word on that menu looks like it was written in a language specifically designed to make you feel like an idiot. You're sitting there nodding slowly like you're reading it when really you're just buying time and hoping the waiter gets distracted. But here's where it goes from mildly stressful to a full on internal crisis, your date looks over at you and goes which one would you prefer. So you point at something and say I think this one is supposed to be quite nice. Wine shows up, it's fine everyone moves on and you spend the rest of the date quietly wondering if you got lucky or actually made a decent call. So how do I learn to choose?
