2021 Clonakilla Shiraz Viognier
Absolute iconic producer from Australia. A cool vintage with a lot of rain.
Savoury, spicy, peppery. This is quite a Shiraz and unlike anything you would pin to a stereotypical Aussie Shiraz leaning much more into Rhone style. The tannins are as silky and soft as you would imagine with a 6% Viognier blend.
So so so aromatic with rose petals, black liquorice, and redcurrants. The palate has this undeniable white pepper and spice that made this a perfect red for a cold night. This could clearly go for years more but the quality of wine making here is so evident.
