The story follows Belle, a young, independent woman who lives in a small French village.
Her life changes when her father, Maurice, is captured by a Beast in a magical, enchanted castle. To save her father, Belle offers to take his place as the Beast's prisoner.
The Beast, cursed by a witch for his selfishness, is trapped in a monstrous form. He must learn to love and be loved before the last petal of a magic rose falls, or he will remain a Beast forever.
As Belle and the Beast spend time together, they begin to form a deep bond. Belle teaches the Beast kindness, while he helps her discover new things beyond her small village. With the help of the enchanted castle's servants, they learn to trust and care for each other.
The Beast finally shows love for Belle, breaking the curse and returning to his human form. The two fall in love, and the spell is broken, restoring the castle and its inhabitants.
