2021 La Vizcaína Bierzo La del Vivo Lomas de Valtuille - Raul Perez
Back at it with more Raul Perez. He is quickly becoming one of my favorite winemakers.
The deeper I get into Bierzo as a region, the more my mind wanders to Burgundy. The minerality and lemon notes are very reminiscent of Chablis to me.
The QPR is off the charts.
This Godello is absolutely divine. White flowers, white peaches, fennel. Lemon and grapefruit zest. The bitter notes typical for Godello are handled with finesse here and add a beautiful complexity. Long finish.
Had this initially too cold which had it show a bit muted. I would absolutely recommend to have this warm a little.
Served with a homemade Vaudovan prawn Pasta. Worked like a charm.
