Last week, we talked about your #FinancialAnchor —that crucial element providing stability.
But here’s the thing: an anchor that keeps you safe can also pull your ship in one direction, even when you want to move somewhere new. That quiet, long‑term pull is what we’re calling #FinancialDrift —how a past money choice keeps shaping your present and your future, even when you’re not really thinking about it anymore.
This activity is a chance to look at one financial decision that still echoes in your life and see how it’s helping you, holding you back, or gently steering you somewhere you didn’t plan.
1. THE ANCHOR
Name one pivotal financial decision you’ve made (or that was made for you) and briefly tell us:
· What exactly you decided ( for example: a big purchase, a loan, an investment, a job choice, or a family‑money decision ).
· The specific amount/circumstance that made it your "anchor"
2. THE DRIFT
Now, look at how that decision still moves you today. Answer in a few honest lines:
· Constraints: Does it make it harder to save, invest, or try something new?
· Mindset: Has it made you more afraid of risk, or more dependent on one “safe” path?
· Opportunities lost: Are there experiences or chances you passed up because of it? What are those?
· Unforeseen benefits: Did this anchor also teach you something or open a door you didn’t expect?
3. CUTTING LOOSE (moving forward)
This is where you take control and steer towards a more favorable future. What actionable steps can you take to mitigate the negative "drift" and leverage the positive aspects of your "anchor"?
· Can you refinance, rebalance, or seek advice to change how it affects you?
· What mindset shift (like “I’m learning,” not “I failed”) could help you feel freer?
· What’s one small step you can take this month? ( For example: a new budget, a transfer, research, a talk with someone you trust. )
ATTACHMENT: PAPER/PEN/COLOR MEDIA
Draw three coins, each with a “$” symbol at the center. COIN = GOLD; DOLLAR SIGN = GREEN
Below the drawing, write “Each coin can represent a different money choice that anchored or drifted my life.”

2. DEDUCTIONS
· 30k - Failure to include any or all of the ff: correct tag #FinancialDrift and mentions:
· 30k-100k - Failure to follow the post format and explain in complete thought
· 100k – Failure to follow the required attachment ( minor mistakes = deductions only )
3. ALL deductions from rule-breakers will be split evenly among participants who followed every rule.
In cases where the deductions are significantly larger and the participants who followed the rules do not exceed half of the capped entries, a portion of the deduction will be allocated to standout entries. Meanwhile, those who complied with the rules will also receive their share.

The color of the coins doesn't look yellow/gold to me, is it brown?

That's true. Golden color pencil was not available to me so it mixture of brown and yellow. The pencils are also visible in the photo which were used. Thanks 🙏
