2021 Castello di Ama Chianti Classico Gran Selezione San Lorenzo
I have a huge soft spot for Castello di Ama.

They make my favorite Chianti Classico bottlings and I love the use of Merlot and Malvasia Nera. This particular bottling is 80% Sangiovese, 13% Merlot, 7% Malvasia Nera.

As a side note, with the new Chianti Classico Gran Selezione rules coming into play, Castello di Ama will have a tough choice to make. Do they increase to 90% Sangiovese? Especially for Bellavista and La Casuccia? Or become a Super Tuscan? TBD!

Enjoyed this by the half bottle at Peck in Milan, which has a lovely wine tasting room in the basement of the store.

Let it open in the glass, although I would have preferred a decant, but the lady serving us wouldn't allow it.

Regardless, this was approachable with a lot of swirling.

Red cherry, blueberry, rosemary, slight cranberry notes.
