Main Hoon Shahid Afridi (2013) is a Pakistani sports drama film directed by Syed Ali Raza Usama and produced by Humayun Saeed and Shahzad Nasib. The story revolves around Akbar Deen (played by Humayun Saeed), a former cricketer who loses everything after being falsely implicated in a drug case, and Shahid Bhatti (Noman Habib), a passionate young boy from Sialkot who dreams of becoming like his idol, Shahid Afridi. When Shahid’s struggling local cricket club gets a chance to play in a prestigious Pepsi tournament, Akbar is brought back as coach. The journey is filled with struggles against corruption, class divide, betrayals, and personal conflicts especially with Akbar’s estranged son Mikaal, who leads the rival team. The film showcases how determination, teamwork, and dreams can overcome hardship, culminating in a dramatic final where the underdog team triumphs. With a strong cast including Javed Sheikh, Shehzad Sheikh, Mahnoor Baloch, Ainy Jaffri, and Hamza Ali Abbasi, the film became notable for reviving the sports genre in Lollywood. Despite some controversy particularly Shahid Afridi’s objection to a few scenes it performed well at the box office and remains one of the most recognized Pakistani cricket-themed films.
