Noah (2014): More Fantasy Dystopia Than Religious
If you're not a Christian, you might enjoy it but also think the people of God are quite about magic and weird shizz. Watching it now with upgraded and Christian eyes, I see all the jarring mistakes in it. I suppose this is how non-religious people can reinterpret Bible stories to make it appeal to the fantasy lovers. But I didn't rave about this when I first watched it a decade or so ago. Thought it was just ok or so-so. As someone who loves the fantasy genre, it doesn't even reach an epic level despite the commendable world-building attempt.
Strictly in the entertainment aspect, yes it has some good elements. Cinematography, CGI and set design are commendable. Loved how they made all the animals fall asleep too. But seeing it all again I say everything is just so wrong. It's not biblical even if the story is based off the Bible. If people want to make Christian stories appealing to the non-religious, you don't turn it into something weirdly magical. That's the exact opposite of what God is about. It looked dystopian and had fallen angels that were accepted back in heaven. Like huh? Demons would never dream of such because they are full of hate and eternally against God since they rebelled and fell. Just ask the Catholic exorcist priests or watch their talks online.
Writers and producers should've made a different movie not based on a Bible story if they wanted to build a dystopian fantasy world. People would have enjoyed it more if they didn't distort God's Word. Same with Exodus: Gods and Kings, it is disappointing to Christians even if it has a better story and is more fantastic. But hey it's quite an Emma Watson acting reel for some reason.
My verdict: I rate it 6.5 out of 10 stars. Almost good but not quite. | How about you, did you enjoy it or what's your thoughts on the movie?
