Pilgrimage (2017): When Catholicism is Turned Into Some Kinda Magical Idolatry 😂 ( #spoiler )
Oh boy, finally finished watching this film and nah, it's lacking that much needed ooomph. This was set in the 13th century so it's got plenty of nature views. Unfortunately I wasn't able to understand the film in full because some dialogues were in French and Irish (?). There was no English subtitle for those languages anywhere on the free streaming sites I checked.
Well, despite that, near the end I almost found the story absurd and kinda laughable to use a rock as if it's a magic item that can even burn sinful people. Burning from a relic wouldn't happen to Catholic monks either! 😂 Yes it is a relic but a Catholic saint relic is not used like it has occult magical powers, nor can it be an instrument to defeat humans in wars. 😆 It's only effective against demons, especially people who are possessed by evil spirits. And such possessions are rare even in this day and age, just ask any Catholic exorcist priest. FYI, only someone who is possessed will burn or experience pain when touching any holy item.
All in all, I rate the movie a 6 out of 10 stars . Yeah the cinematography and costumes are fine enough but the story is more secular than Catholic. It's more realistic than Noah (2014) but still in the same boat as that one. Again, ignorance of Catholicism is not bliss. 😁

The Rings of Power, Season 1 2022 (💢 Warning: #SPOILER ALERT 🔥)
I enjoyed watching this #fantasy #entertainment #series since I first saw it on Prime. I even rewatched it once or twice! For me, it's that good and I love the cinematography plus the production design/costumes too. It's a story of the royal elf Galadriel when she was quite younger than her Lord of the Rings movie trilogy version. It's all about her quest for revenge/justice and the grave consequence of it. Of course it also has some interesting side stories which leads up to the movies eventually. (Haven't seen Season 2 yet because there's too many evil/sinful things in fantasy shows usually. Ah heck I'll expand on this maybe in another post.)
"What's the shocking twist?" #review Well for me what's shocking was I never expected the betrayal would be like a love story. This isn't a romantic series you know. 😆 What happened to Galadriel was like a dagger to the heart from the one you love. Well at least that's how it seemed. The build up was, you gave hope to a person who was lost and hopeless while on the hunt for the vilest character of their world. Only to find out the one you've been searching for has been with you all along and he turned out to be a monster you personally encouraged to rise up! WHAT THE. Big OUCH!
I mean, if you haven't experienced such humiliation, shame and grand failure as a leader nor a person caught up w/ romantic feelings then suddenly have your trust violently shattered, you would never be able to appreciate this show. Nevertheless it is a big shock when it happens to us personally, what more if we're just watching like this series?

Nefarious - Demons Are Nasty Beings People Think Don't Exist
Oh finally I was able to watch this on YouTube and well, it's indeed not scary in a sense of the usual horror movies. The thing is, I already know enough of what the Nefarious character talked about in the film. (Thanks to the Lord I am finally free from the clutches of evil and I pray to always belong to God forever. 🙏)
Anyway, I'm sad how the film ended but in real life, most of the time, such can still happen! There are people who still choose not to repent nor fully believe in God despite experiencing evil beings. Mindboggling but that's free will for ya. I did enjoy the dialogue but other than that the movie can be boring at times. I can't believe I'm saying this, I mean I should encourage everyone to watch it because it's a good film for those who wanna know how demons think. If you and the evil character agree with each other then you know who you belong to. Am not kidding. 😅 Take it seriously because it's based on real info actual Catholic exorcist priests know from the many exorcisms done in two millennia. Yes they had an exorcist as consultant for the film.
I rate it an 8 out of 10 stars for it's morality/religious content but 6 out of 10 stars for # #entertainment value. It's not even proselytizing but some people might get shocked with some of the scenes/revelations. It depends on your state of life when you watch it.
