The Rock is a 1996 American action thriller film directed by Michael Bay and starring Sean Connery and Nicolas Cage.
I've seen it many times; I can't get enough of it!
Short plot: War hero General Francis Hummel decides to take a desperate step: he and his loyal commandos capture the Alcatraz prison island and take the tourists there hostage. Hummel demands $100 million from the government, which he wants to distribute to the families of his soldiers who fell in secret operations but were forgotten. If his demands are not met, he will fire missiles equipped with deadly nerve gas from the island at the population of neighboring San Francisco.
