#EmpathySwap #earn g/confessions g/studio 1. When I walk…

#EmpathySwap #earn

1. When I walk or exercise in the park, I’m always vigilant — men walking around, staring. I’ve made friends with a group there, which helps, but I still stay alert (even carrying dumbbells 😅). I’m constantly checking my surroundings, whether I’m walking or driving — windows closed, doors locked, avoiding night drives because of hijackings. My brother works unscheduled hours and often comes home in the early hours of the morning, so I double-check that everything is locked, the alarm is set, and still feel uneasy when dogs bark or when I hear unfamiliar sounds outside. When I tell people I exercise and walk in the park, the first thing they ask me “is it safe?”

2. I’d want the opposite sex to feel this constant awareness, to understand the mental weight of always having safety on your mind.
Because this vigilance isn’t fear — Experiencing this would show how much mental energy goes into simply existing and moving through everyday spaces safely.

3.I believe it would build deeper empathy and patience, less judgment, and more awareness of why safety shapes our choices, routines, and boundaries every single day.

Everything you said resonates with me. I walk to and from work, and that same constant vigilance follows me. Always alert, pepper spray ready, never fully relaxed…..
