Passed the Certified Exam!!

I'm officially a Certified Sommelier! What a journey it's been, really proud of this achievement... Which almost felt too rushed lol.

Been in the industry for almost 3 years now, but only really focused on wine service last December. I passed WSET L1 in November and it was a breeze. Jumped straight into studying for Intro when January started, and passed in February with a 93%. I felt confident and wanted to keep the momentum going so I applied for the soonest Certified date in my state. Working industry hours, *high season hours,* while studying and tasting was no easy feat, but by the remaining 2 weeks before the exam I was feeling quite ready.

The exam came and jeez was it tough. Tasting made me feel like I forgot every wine I've tried before. Theory made it feel like the 2000-3000 question testbanks I studied/memorized weren't enough. And service was a tad smoother than I ever expected, but I didn't answer or answered wrongly to maybe 40% of the questions, so I wasn't the most confident about it either. At least I can confidently said I answered all parts of the exam to the best of my ability.

I was one of the last to be called. Thought I wouldn't be at that point. But I was, and the excitement was overflowing at this point. Amazing feeling by all means.

One of the biggest rewards was being around a lovely group of peers who are highly diversed, and equally excited for this career. I didn't feel nerdy at any point which happens often on the floor, and the Master Somms were stupidly knowledgeable, but very embracing, and kind.

For anyone thinking of, and/or willing to pursue this. If it matches your career course, and it sounds exciting, go for it! It is more than worth it.

Cheers!
