Some of my earliest experiences with Sonoma coast pinot noir were with Hirsch vineyards, and I was very saddened to hear the man himself passed away this week. It felt like an appropriate moment to open this bottle to reflect and appreciate his contribution to the wine world.
This 2021 San Andreas Fault is still young but drinking nicely already, with a beautiful floral nose of bright red fruits and mineral/graphite, as well as subtle forest floor. Good acidity and complexity on the palate with a silky mouthfeel. Overall a classic elegant Sonoma coast pinot that could go many more years, but enjoyed today in remembrance. Cheers 🍷
