Sacrifice: Losing their own identity and free time.
While people often talk about career breaks or sleepless nights, they rarely talk about how moms lose themselves. Once a woman becomes a mother, her own hobbies, friendships, and dreams often get pushed to the side. She stops being viewed as her own person and is just seen as "so-and-so's mom." Every single day, her own needs come last, and she has to put all her energy into taking care of everyone else.
2. Who Pays: Who suffers most from this sacrifice—mothers themselves, their children, their partners, or society as a whole? Explain.
Mothers suffer the most right away. It leads to deep tiredness, stress, and feeling very lonely because they have no time for themselves.
But society as a whole suffers in the long run. When moms are too exhausted to chase their own goals, the world misses out on their talents, great ideas, and leadership. Also, when children see their moms completely give up their own happiness, they grow up thinking that being a parent means you have to be miserable and give up everything.
3. Your Fix: If you could demand one concrete change from society, partners, or workplaces to reduce this specific cost, what would it be? Explain.
The Fix: Equal paid time off for both parents and cheaper daycare.
We need to stop acting like raising kids is only the mother's job.(Coz mom cannot make her kids alone😆✌️ It takes two to tango😆✌️)
For Partners and Workplaces: Both moms and dads should get the same amount of paid time off when a baby is born, and it should be normal for dads to take it.
The Impact: When partners share the work equally from the start, the mom doesn't have to do everything alone. This gives her the time and breathing room to keep her job, enjoy her hobbies, and remember who she is as a person.
